Why It Works

Here are twelve reasons why EnterTech is effective.

Coalition Development

A transdisciplinary coalition of more than 70 companies, commercial based organizations, educators and policy makers guided the development of the EnterTech program to meet their workforce needs.

Simulation-based Apprenticeships

EnterTech provides realistic simulations of "on-the-job" work environments, incorporating the sights and sounds, language and culture of industry settings.

Focus On Responsibility

Emphasis is on imparting and reinforcing attitudes, behaviors and values that employers value most; responsibility, dependability, positive work attitude, teamwork, and communication.

Career Ladders

In exploring the world of work, learners are exposed to a variety of job possibilities and entry points to career ladders and continuing education.

Learn-By-Doing

Rather than learning by abstraction, learners use explicit knowledge, skills and abilities in context of the requirements and responsibilities of work.

Engaging Storyline

Learners are placed as "new hires" in the virtual "EnterTech" company. The narrative story within the instruction creates interest and motivation.

Continuous Assessment and Feedback

Student performance is tracked by a learning management system that responds to individual outcomes.

Remediation

Just-in-time learning resources are available to learners in need of skill remediation or enhancement. Taks overviews, tutorials, and a vocabulary glossary are available with a mouse-click.

Referral and Support Model

EnterTech is framed within a "referral and support" model to assist students to successfully gain the skills and situational stability required for improved job placements and better wages.

Life-Work Intersection

Each learner creates individualized contingency plans to better manage the mutual dependencies of home and work duties.

Program Delivery Flexibility

EnterTech can be customized to fit your needs. The 45-hour program can be offered in 1 to 8 hour sessions and also may be offered in an open entry - open exit format.

Blended Learning Environment

By integrating learning delivery methods - computer-based tasks, group-based projects, workbooks and individualized personal planning - learners gain a deeper understanding of skills and concepts and retention increases.
