EnterTech Instructors

Instructors are supplied by the association, agency or organization sponsoring training. They must receive EnterTech Program orientation.

Ideally instructors will have some, if not all, of the following characteristics;

Role of Instructors

The instructor is the most important tool in the EnterTech classroom. He or she is the link between the world in which learners currently function and the one to which they aspire. Therefore instructors serve as a mentor, coach/facilitator, supervisor, and mediator during the training program. As a mentor, instructors respond constructively to learner difficulties and make suggestions about where to find assistance.

Instructors coach learners through the learning process. They do not "teach" the class, but rather "facilitate" the learning experience. As a facilitator, the instructor provides direction for the learners, but does not perform tasks or activities themselves. By guiding the learners through the program, the learners attain problem-solving skills.

Instructors reinforce the simulated atmosphere of the EnterTech computer manufacturing company by implementing policies and procedures reflective of a business atmosphere. Instructors treat learners as new employees thereby enforcing EnterTech rules of appropriate interaction, dress, conduct, and attendance. The instructor has high expectations; allows no question to be a "dumb question", works individually with each learner for mastery of every performance objective, and ultimately, is a resource for learning that inspires each learner to maximum performance.

Instructors teach learners about on-the-job expectations by maintaining the same expectations in the classroom. Instructors address issues of work ethics, absenteeism, dress, promptness, harassment, smoking, and safety in the classroom. Instructors bring soft skills to the foreground in the classroom, addressing topics like honesty, diversity, and respect for learning styles.
