EnterTech Training Assessment & Graduation

Assessment

EnterTech learners historically do not perform well on traditional tests. Yet EnterTech's curriculum emphasizes authentic assessment. So, activities being assessed reflect realistic tasks, such as work-related situations rather than multiple-choice questions. EnterTech believes that an important aspect of authentic assessment is the direct application of knowledge to real world experiences.

The Leveling System for a Performance Objective

Level 3 SAY IT. Learner is able to state, describe, or explain procedures and concepts.
Level 4 DO IT. Learner is able to correctly perform tasks without significant help from others.
Level 5 USE IT. Learner is able to integrate skills to solve novel problems.

Embedded Assessment

Embedded assessment takes place within each computer-based scenario. As learners complete realistic job tasks, the computer tracks their performance and assesses their ability. Each work task assesses 3 to 4 performance objectives. This allows for continuous, uninterupted assessment of the learner's performance. Here is a sample of one learner's assessment during the third week of training.

Portfolio Assessment

Learners create a portfolio from the training program. Portfolio assessment consists of accumulating samples of learners' work, such as writing samples, the skills transcript, resumé, and various other work product samples. Instructors evaluate this portfolio as a whole and the learner's accumulative performance. The learner can take her portfolio to job interviews after completing EnterTech training.

Combined Assessment

A learner's overall performance consists of the combination of an instructor's assessment and computer-embedded tracking as assessed through the level system ranging from three to five, from least to most complex performance.

Graduation

Upon completing the program each learner receives four Certificates of Accomplishment containing the seal of the University of Texas at Austin from ELT Labs, creators of the EnterTech program; a personalized skills transcript, and a work portfolio. The skills transcript (below) lists the activities and learning modules completed. It shows learner performance in terms that are meaningful to employers.

The portfolio includes employability forms and samples of individual and group work. This combination of documentation is usable for many different jobs, industries, and communities. It provides a credible and portable skills profile for each learner. The transcript portrays the learner's knowledge, skills, and abilities emphasizing the learner's readiness to learn job specifics from an employer.
